Origin: Mexico, or Peru Bagged avocados get a bad rap for being the runts of the harvest. But the best part about them being smaller is you can use one avocado at a time (or all at once). Those big avocados are all cool and cocky, but most of the time you don't need the whole thing. So you wrap it tight in plastic to preserve it in the fridge, but it never works. So let's all hail the short king and make some banging guac! Storage Tips: Storing: Leave at room temperature, then store in the fridge at the correct ripeness. Store in low humidity in crisper drawer. Ripening: Leave at room temperature until the avocado is soft and turning brown. To speed ripen: place a ripe banana, or apple, with the unripe avocados and cover them in a warm place. Rule of Thumb: Only refrigerate an avocado when the skin goes from green to brown. This can extend the shelf life for 2-3 weeks. Refrigerating an avocado too early can result in the flesh turning brown.
